Bob & Sandy White of the Renegade spent the summer of  2006 cruising  Georgian Bay. The following is their recollection of their adventure.

We recently returned to San Diego after cruising summer of 2006 in Georgian Bay (Parry Sound) and the north shore of North Channel before proceeding into St.Joseph's Channel on the way to the Soo.

Recommend Pointe au Baril Station, Byng Inlet (although Hang Dog Reefs in the SCW was challenging), French River  anchorage at Macdongal Bay, and Collins Inlet (stunning) enroute to Killarney.  Several scenic anchorages close to Killarney where we enjoyed Covered Portage Cove.  Recommend cruising to Baie Fine ( a 6 mi fjord), however, anchoring in The Pool a problem due to weed growth.

Little Current has new finger dockage alongside the town wall that will accomodate another 50 vessels.  Hospitable community and friendly people.  Oak Bay is a convenient anchorage in the McBean Channel.  Spanish Municipal Marina is very accomodating after passing Little Detroit Narrows.  Best to call ahead and get their recommendation of how to proceed into the Marina.

Beardrop Harbor was also a very comfortable anchorage with blueberry picking.  Proceeded to Bllind River Marina which was OK before anchoring at Chevlaier Island with its emerald color water and sandy beaches.  On to Bruce Mines and tour of the mines before entering St.Joseph Channel and anchoring close to Whiskey Rock.

Stay tuned for more of their adventure in the coming days.
