Daniel McAllister Rusts Away
While in Montreal recently I stumbled upon this sad state. The Daniel McAllister is the oldest and largest historic tugboat in Canada and the second oldest ocean-going tugboat to be preserved in the world. Yet, this artifact is currently rusting in the Old Port of Montreal. I would appreciate any comments on what the planned status is or what should be for this national treasure.

The Old Port Corporation has approached federal authorities about obtaining certification as an agency entitled to handle recognized cultural property, and is now waiting for a reply. This recognition would allow it to take over the tug and draw up an interpretation and development plan.
