Tugboat taking a tour
05/01/2006 — Tug News
The tugboat Urger, once part of New York's canal fleet, will be traveling through the Erie Canal in May. The Urger, built in 1901 and used as a commercial shipping vessel, was stationed in Waterford for more than 60 years hauling machinery, dredges and scows on the Erie and Champlain canals. The boat was decommissioned in the 1980s and placed on the state and national registers of historic places. Photo credit goes to James Goolsby / Times Union.
