Spring Runoff
The Sequin River empties into Georgian Bay at the base of Parry Sound Harbour. All the flood gates are open at this time to handle the volume of water from Mill Lake. These pictures where taken from the base of the CPR bridge on James Street and the power station on River Street.

Samual Risley In Town
The CCGS Samual Risley arrived today to open the 2008 shipping season. She will be installing the summer buoys on the main channel. Always a pleasure to see her at the base in Parry Sound.

New Tug in the Fleet
Dan Mckay adds a new tug to his fleet. The (Iacalong) built in 1939 by Russell Bros in Owen Sound. Dan found her in Lac Ste Marie Quebec, on the Gatineau River. She is 47ft in lenght and is powered by a Cat D343 turbo @ 375hp. Dan plans on moving her to Sualt Ste Marie in a year, where it will be heavily modified fior racing and painted yellow.
The Iacalong is a sister ship of the Decelles.

An era closes with tug's last lumber run
Interesting news story about the end of an era at a small lake system in north eastern Idaho.
"With the last lumber mills shutting down along the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene the tug boats used to push logs up and down the river are no longer needed, but there's time for one last run down the river."
