Groves Fleet:

Work Boat #10 & Scuffy, part of the Groves Marine Fleet. Capt Groves with Work Boat #10 and Capt McGowan with Scuffy. Just to much red for the White Bear, Scuffy won the heat by a bow rail. Good job done by all the boat Captains in the Medium power event.

Sir Hiss:

Meet Tug "Sir Hiss".  Her home port is Loins Head & her owner is Maurice Menary. Capt Maurice has competed in tugfest 2004 & 2006, in the low power event. "Sir Hiss" also participated in the Great Tug Race in Sault St. Marie.  If you ever get a chance to speak with Capt Maurice you will come away with either a smile on your face or a bewilderd look, as Capt Maurice has a great sense of humor & is a fun guy to be around.

Frisky:

Two action pictures of Frisky giving it to her rivals, the Mink Isle & Loganville, in the high power event. It was a close race, but Capt Dave had some extra power put away for the finish. Frisky's home is Port Dover on Lake Erie, Ont.

The Bone Yard

While browsing this past weekend, I discovered this excellent photo essay of days gone by. Photographer Dennis W. Felty has done an excellent job in capturing the abandoned tugboats and ships of NYC as these once impressive tugs surrender to the sea. Check it out: The Bone Yard .

Panckhurst M:

Here are two shots of the Pankhurst M in the high power event at the 2006 tugfest. Capt Norm Menary has the throttle pinned in this race, with the Mink Isle and the Loganville. Her home port is Owen Sound.  It's always a pleasure to have Norm and first mate Helen at the event. Look forward to seeing them in 2007.

More on Loganville:

Capt Dan Simpson made the trip from Port Dover with the Loganville to particapate in the 2006 tugfest. The pictures above show her in the medium power event, with Frisky also from Port Dover, and  Panckhurst M from Owen Sound Ont. Thank you Dan for helping to make tugfest 2006 a success, and hope to see you again in 2007.
